I cannot put into words how much we appreciate working with Matt. We were told my multiple mortgage brokers we weren’t able to get the house we wanted and Matt made it happen. I am also horrible at uploading paper work and he was patient and made it dummy proof and seamless. Buying houses are so stressful but Matt made it happen and we could not be more grateful, I would highly recommend!

Working with Matt on we provided him, I believe was the most complicated mortgage we have ever done, multiple brokers told us it was not possible for a multitude of reasons. Matt conducted extensive diligence and through his experience and professional connections he methodically worked through a very extensive list required.

You own the house. So why does cash feel so tight?

For a lot of BC homeowners 55+, the home is worth far more than they ever planned for. Meanwhile the bank account feels smaller every year. Repairs. Property tax. Helping the kids. A fixed income that does not stretch like it used to.

Then you see the ads. Big numbers. Smiling couples. "Cash from your home." Nobody explains what it costs, what happens to your equity, or who it is wrong for.

So you either ignore it, or you sit across from a salesperson and hope for the best. Neither one is a plan.

Read this first. Then decide.

The Free BC Reverse Mortgage Guide explains how it works, what it costs, and what your family may be left with, in plain English. It takes about 15 minutes to read. And I am a broker, not a lender, so I can put other options next to it, like a HELOC, selling, or downsizing.

Without the guide

  • Ads with big numbers and small print
  • One lender's version of the story
  • A sales call before you understand the product

With the guide

  • Plain-English costs and tradeoffs
  • Your options compared side by side

Straight answers

Questions people ask first

Do I still own my home?

Yes. You keep title. It is a loan secured against your home, not a sale. You stay responsible for property taxes, insurance, and upkeep.

Do I have to make monthly payments?

On most reverse mortgage products, regular monthly principal and interest payments are not required. You can often choose to pay interest. Exact terms depend on the lender and product.

Will my kids lose the house?

Not automatically. When the loan comes due, your family can repay the balance and keep the home. If they cannot, the home may need to be sold and any remaining equity kept.

What does the guide cost?

The guide is free. A funded mortgage may involve lender fees, an appraisal, and independent legal advice where required. The guide explains typical costs in plain English.

Do I pay the broker?

You do not pay BRX a fee for the guide or the review call. BRX Mortgage Inc. is paid by the lender if a loan funds, and the amount is disclosed to you in writing before you decide.

Is this only for people with no mortgage?

No. Many homeowners with an existing mortgage use a reverse mortgage to pay it out and access the remaining equity as a lump sum, an income stream, or both, subject to approval. You would receive the net proceeds after your current mortgage is paid out.

Are reverse mortgage rates higher?

Typically, yes. Reverse mortgage rates are usually higher than conventional mortgage rates, and interest builds on your balance over time. The guide shows how that affects your remaining equity. Any figures we show are illustrative only, not a quote.

How is the money taxed?

Money borrowed against your home is generally a loan rather than income, but tax rules depend on your situation. Please ask your tax advisor.
